6,684,462 people were registered members of the German Football Association in 2009, and 1,022,824 of them are now girls and women. The women are the current world champions.

gold medals were won by Germany in the Summer Olympic Games. Third place in the “all-time” Olympic medal count of nations: bronze.

On 11 occasions Adidas has provided the World Cup ball – definitely the soccer world champion when it comes to equipment. This year’s ball is named “Jabulani” (meaning “to celebrate” in isiZulu).

80,552 spectators – that’s the capacity of Dortmund’s soccer stadium, the largest in Germany. An average of 76,000 fans attended the home games of Borussia Dortmund in the first half of the 2009/10 season. The team’s faithful supporters are found on the south stand which has Europe’s greatest capacity for standing crowds.
