Whilst in Cairo, Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement on the situation in Syria and the discussions in the United Nations Security Council:
“At tomorrow’s Security Council meeting, Germany, along with its partners and the Arab states, will urge the Security Council to finally take the step of clearly condemning the violence practised by the Syrian regime and of supporting the course of action adopted by the Arab League.
In order to emphasize the importance we attach to this issue, Germany will be represented at tomorrow’s meeting by Minister of State Link.”
